Paul Chillingworth


As Chair, I am responsible for the activities of the Committee and ensuring that all matters relating to the operation and funding of the club are being delivered through the Committee member roles according to the club constitution and ASA/Swim England requirements and regulations.  My role is to liaise with all Committee members as appropriate.

I am also responsible for the day to day operations of the club in conjunction with the head coach.

Three of my children used to swim with the club and my eldest son still competes at national level. I am a referee and occasionally coach.

Michael Hawkins

Vice Chair

As vice-chair, I deputise for the chair as required at meetings and assist at club events.

I have a swimmer in National squad.

Darren Hunter-Clarke


As treasurer of the club, I am responsible for producing and managing the club’s accounts and finances. The role includes being responsible for all income and expenditure for the club.
The duties include being responsible for all club finances through keeping accounts and to plan the annual budget in agreement with the club committee, and to monitor it throughout the year.
The treasurer ensures that all funds are used appropriately and prepares the end of year accounts for the club AGM.

I was previously chair of the club for 4 years and have a swimmer in National squad.

Covid Lead

I am responsible as Covid Lead for the club, ensuring all club Covid procedures comply with the guidance provided by Swim England and the requirements of our pool providers.  I have a daughter who currently swims in Regional squad.

Membership Secretary

My role as Membership Secretary involves making sure that all new swimmers/parents receive, complete and return relevant paperwork for welfare and fees purposes.  I ensure that all swimmers/coaches/volunteers are registered with the ASA at the correct level for their commitment to the club.

Club Secretary

As the secretary of a club, I act help organise committee meetings and AGMs, taking minutes, and
distributing and communicating these as appropriate. I liaise with club committee members to ensure all appropriate administration is in place.

Welfare Officers

As welfare officers, we are the first point of contact for children, parents and adults within the club who have a child safeguarding or welfare concern.
The welfare officers:
  • Assist the club in implementing Wavepower, Swim England’s Child Safeguarding Policy and Procedures document.
  • Are the first point of contact for club staff, volunteers, young people, and parents for any issues concerning child welfare, poor practice or potential or alleged abuse.
  • Ensure that all incidents are reported correctly and referred, in accordance with Wavepower.
  • Act independently and in the best interests of a child at the club, putting their needs above that of others and the club itself.
  • Ensure that all relevant club members, volunteers and staff have an up to date DBS Enhanced Disclosure (this should be updated every three years) and the opportunity to access appropriate child safeguarding training.
  • Ensure that Codes of Conduct are in place for club staff, volunteers, coaches, competitors and parents.
  • Ensure confidentiality is maintained and information is only shared on a ‘need to know’ basis.

Paul Ritchie

Head Coach (ex-officio)

My role as Head Coach is to inspire and motivate all swimmers at all levels.

The Head Coach ensures the coaching within the club promotes fitness and enjoyment of swimming and allows individuals to perform to the highest standard that they can.


The role includes responsibility for:


  • The coaching sessions of the Club
  • The welfare of individual swimmers and coaches during Club coaching sessions
  • Planning teaching and coaching sessions
  • Team selections
  • Which competitions the Club enters 
  • Feedback on individual and team performances
  • Poolside discipline in accordance with the Club’s policies and procedures and with ASA Law
  • Coach development within the Club
  • Maintaining high ethical standards in Coaching
  • Ensuring that knowledge, skills and qualifications are kept up to date
  • Reporting to the Club Committee at meetings of the Committee
